The BIG gator was about 15 feet away (the one blocking the boat launch). The little guys on our canoe tour, I'd say within 10' or so. Bonus on the jeans, although I didn't lose any weight, I didn't GAIN any either! Not bad for 5 weeks on a trip (and we ate homemade dinner rolls almost every night and had pie with frozen yogurt a couple times a week ... I don't do that at home!)
