We are torn between the deep-seated, although often unarticulated, knowledge that we are here for a reason; that there is more to life than what we are giving or receiving; that all of us, as individuals, have a higher purpose and the conflict of getting caught up in day-to-day tasks, responsibilities and duties; trying desperately to ‘fit in’ and be ‘normal’; to not stand out from the crowd; to not make waves or be different.

In this duality-based world, this confusion has become our norm. It confounds many of us. Some question. Many choose not to. It is a choice. It is our questions which drive us. Drive us to seek further knowledge; to peel back layer after layer within ourselves; to push ourselves beyond our comfort zone at all levels – physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional – all in an attempt to find our true essence.

At some point, we reach the conclusion that the time has come; it is time for us to stand up for what we believe in; to realize our values are important; to acknowledge our strengths and differences; to allow others to see who we really are – to shine our light to illuminate not only our path, but the path of those who follow in our footsteps. And so, often with great trepidation, we choose to become a leader.

Without leaders, multitudes will continue to wander aimlessly; digging themselves deeper and deeper into their ‘reality’; moving further and further from their potential. The very thought of this wounds the leader within each of us. Hence, the trepidation is overcome through choice.

This is true not only in personal endeavours but in BUSINESS as well.

Our deepest fear…

Author: Sue

There is an amazing and inspiring famous quote* which you may or may not be aware of.

It addresses a deep knowing within each of us and calls us forward to fulfill our individual role in this world:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves: “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

– from A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson. ( * often attributed to Nelson Mandela)

If you are — take a break!

It’s important to balance business and pleasure; not to separate but to be sure they all blend in well to the whole picture of our life overall.

Today, I baked lemon squares and a lemon poppy seed cake (I usually do my baking on Saturday or Sunday so we have the snackies for the week). My husband was in his workshop varnishing the wood trim on the canoe so it looks spiffy the next time we go on vacation (oops … that’s probalby in a couple weeks … I forgot again! It’s hard to keep track of all this vacation time); then he set up the template to do a test run for a sign for our trails this summer. We’re deciding on the colour combinations soon.

Then, after a lunch of homemade vegetable lentil soup (I admit there was some wine in it) and a sandwich; we headed up the 100′ subescarpment hill to the greenhouse — on snowshoes. Then, we switched to cross-country (nordic) skis and toured the outer loop (6+km) for about 1.5 hours with Emily (our puppy). Then, back to the greenhouse to warm up, water the plants that are in holding pattern. I trekked back down the hill to start preparing for a talk on Tuesday night by printing off the handouts for 50 people.

Now, I’m creating the ‘widget’ from Amazon to paste into my website so that people have the opportunity to purchase directly.

More tomorrow…

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

It All Counts

Author: Sue

Remember, back on January 18, when we discussed Is your ‘money speedometer’ set on cruise control? Today’s post is going follow along the same line of thought – in fact, the next few posts will be along this line – working with and on your money mindset.

For the past three months, I have been faithfully completing an exercise recommended by my Platinum Coaching Mentor, Kendall Summerhawk – I am one of only 32 Money, Marketing & Soul coaches worldwide who are certified to utilize her program in our workshops and sessions.

The exercise is simple. The decision to actually do it and then follow through requires a little more effort. However, I have been checking in daily and it has really opened my eyes to how much money flows through my hands/life and, here’s the scary part, how little of it I retain.

As the ‘Baby Steps to Success Expert, I’m going to start you off with a very tiny step toward your success. Do this and you’re on your way.

We’ll call this exercise: It All Counts

In an excel spreadsheet document or a table in Word, create a chart/matrix that allows the following:

4 columns; up to 35 rows

Across the top (title): Month and Year – It All Counts Money Tracking Chart

In the column headings:

Day   Income   Subtotal   Description

Down the first column on the left: the number for the day of the month (1 through 31)

In the second column, each day of the month, record your ENTIRE income for that day. I do this as a separate line for each amount. Examples: I found a dime in laundry = 1 line with description beside it; I found money in the pocket of a coat I hadn’t worn for a while; a refund cheque came in; investment income statement (only the income, not the total); a friend sent me some birthday money … you get the idea. Absolutely EVERY amount of money that comes in contact with you, goes in this second column.

Because I’ve got separate lines for each amount of money, I subtotal when there is more than one item on one day (this is an optional stept)

At the end, after all the days of the month, put TOTAL in the first column and add up the third column.  This is ALL the money that you came in contact with over the month. No doubt, it will surprise you.

We’ll take this a little deeper later.

In the meantime – go get started. Create your blank template and then a document for the month of March 2010.

Decide. Act.

These two steps are essential to business success (more on that in another post sometime).

To your success…
